Michael was named Global Banking & Markets Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Executive in March 2019. He oversees all AML activities for the Global Banking and Markets businesses to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and bank policy. He implements streamlined processes that reduce risk, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall client and employee experience.
Previously, Michael was responsible for AML and economic sanctions risk management for Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s businesses in the U.S. and Canada. Michael and his teams worked with the frontline business and their clients, senior management and the bank’s regulators to provide the expertise essential to managing AML risk, combating the financing of terrorism, and understanding economic sanctions risk across the Retail and Small Business, Wealth Management and Global Banking & Markets lines of business.
Michael joined Bank of America in 1991 as part of the Global Transaction Services (GTS) Sales team. Since then, he has also worked in the Bank’s Product Development and Client Services groups. Prior to joining Global Financial Crimes Compliance, Michael spent several years as the Senior Business Support Executive to the EMEA Regional President and Chief Operating Officer for all Global Banking and Markets businesses in the region. Michael has been based in the US, Belgium and the UK, relocating from London to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2013.
Michael is a summa cum laude graduate of The American University in Washington D.C., with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations.
