Michael Touse is a Data Scientist with more than 25 years of operational and technical leadership experience across the financial services and defense industries. He is currently an Assistant Vice President of Model Risk Management at Navy Federal Credit Union leading independent model validations for fraud, AML, AI/ML, and marketing models. In this capacity, he and his team evaluate every aspect of a model prior to delivery to identify potential weakness or bias in source data, conceptual design, training and production code, and performance outcomes.

Mike is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a PhD in Applied Physics. He began his Navy career as a Surface Warfare Officer leading shipboard divisions in sonar, navigation, propulsion, and electronic systems. He then served as a Technical Program Manager partnering with industry to develop, integrate, and maintain a variety of complex systems for the Navy. Prior to joining Navy Federal, Mike was a Model Risk Officer leading the Model Validation Group for all consumer and small business bank models at Capital One.
